Minutes of September 11, 2012 Meeting

Members In attendance:  Nicholas Beaudoin, Valarie Beaudoin, Leona Brahen, Bill Dominick, Leslie Duthie and Audra Staples
Absent:  Nancy Dahlen and Victoria Prior
Also in Attendance:  Gail Morrissey


The minutes of the August 14, 2012 meeting were reviewed and, after motion duly made by Ms. Duthie and seconded by Ms. Staples, were approved with the changes discussed.

Planting Liaison with Karen King Associates

Ms. Beaudoin introduced Ms. Morrissey, who then explained the goals of the Street Angels.  She stated that the Street Angels would like to bring the information regarding tree availability to the neighborhoods affected by the tornado.  The Committee then explained the various programs that had been set up by the Committee.  It was decided that the Committee would provide a handout to be prepared by Ms. Duthie that would outline the procedure for individuals to contact the Committee to secure their trees.

Replanting Event

The Committee then turned to a discussion of the upcoming planting events.  A schedule was developed and the planting procedure was discussed.  Various ideas for donations for both coffee and lunch were discussed.  It was decided the Mr. Dominick would contact Dunkin Donuts for coffee set up and Ms. Beaudoin would contact Adams for bag lunches to be provided to the volunteers.

The planting areas were discussed and Ms. Brahen offered to contact Brad Medeiros for assistance on planting.  Ms. Brahen also reported on the expected number of volunteers for the event.  A schedule for pre-delivery of trees was developed and Ms. Beaudoin, Ms. Brahen and Ms. Duthie agreed to be available for the offloading of trees on Friday morning.

Discussion of Reimbursement Program

Ms. Staples then discussed the aspects of the proposed reimbursement program for individuals who might need assistance on trees purchased privately.  The Committee discussed various aspects of this program and it was decided to table further discussion of this program.

Various fundraiser events were discussed and it was decided that the Committee would once again order 75 Alberta Spruce and 75 miniature trees for sale during the holiday season.  Various outlets for ordering were discussed and Ms. Beaudoin will pursue a booth at Big Mac.

There being no further business, and after motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
